About podsearch
podsearch is a free search engine for podcast episodes. It reads the public RSS feeds of more than four million shows, so you can search what was said in an episode's title and show notes, not just a show's name, and play it straight from the page.
Where the data comes from
The list of shows comes from the Podcast Index, an open directory of podcasts. We fetch each show's feed ourselves and check it again for new episodes, often within minutes of publishing when the host announces it through Podping. Charts on the home page come from public chart listings.
Audio is never copied or rehosted. When you press play, your browser streams the file from the podcast's own host.
What we add
- Full-text search across episode titles and descriptions, with filters and sorting in Advanced search.
- Browse pages by category and country, and a "Surprise me" button for a random episode.
- Labels for shows that look machine-generated, judged only when a visitor asks for them.
- A Library that keeps the shows and topics you follow on your own device, with no account.
- A podcast API and downloadable data extracts for developers and researchers.
Who runs it
podsearch is built and operated by Technical Partners, a small software studio. See the privacy policy for what the site stores and how ads work.
