In this episode, we dive into a true vintage oddball classic, the 1977 Wonder Bread Star Wars set. We take a close look at the anchor of the set, card #1, Luke Skywalker. We break down everything you need to know about this iconic piece of non-sports memorabilia, including:The PSA Population: How many copies have survived the test of time and made it into a PSA slab, and just how scarce are those high-grade Gem Mint 10 copies? The "First" Star Wars Card Debate: Was this actually released before the legendary Topps sets, earning it the crown of the very first Star Wars trading card set ever issued? Market Value: What does this card command on the open market today, ranging from raw copies pulled straight from a loaf of bread to top-tier graded specimens? Set Fun Facts & Trivia: We explore the unique design by John Van Hammersveld, the treacherous journey of sharing a bag with a loaf of soft white bread, the mail-in offer that saved many mint copies, and some hilarious early-continuity errors tucked away on the card backs (like Luke's age and Chewie's centuries)!
