Addicted to Comfort, Called to Endure
From Lakewood Vineyard Sermon Podcast · 27:07
Show by Lakewood Vineyard Church
Most of us want a faith that makes life easier. But what if the life you were actually invited into looks more like training for a race than settling into a recliner? In this message from 2 Timothy 2, Paul, facing his own execution, writes to a young friend about what real faith costs, using three pictures everyone in his world understood: a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer. Along the way you’ll hear about a woman who won the Boston Marathon without running it, a half marathon attempted on two miles of training, and a summer spent pulling bindweed out of a scorched lawn. The point is simple and hard: there are no shortcuts to a life that bears fruit. Growth comes from showing up day after day, and you don’t have to do it alone. Underneath the call to endure is something steadier than our own effort. Grace comes first, and even when we are faithless, God remains faithful.
