Peter’s Three Calls
From Daily Sermon Station · 37:00
Show by Daily Sermon Station
In this sermon, Charles Spurgeon explains that Peter experienced three different calls from Jesus: his first call to salvation, his second call to active service, and his third call to be an apostle. He points out that people must first be saved and born again before they can properly serve God or work in the ministry. During Peter's second call by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus invited him to leave his fishing nets and become a "fisher of men". Spurgeon teaches that believers should respond to God's call right away with total obedience instead of delaying or making excuses. Finally, he encourages Christians to dedicate their everyday jobs and whole lives to serving Christ while urging sinners to trust in Jesus for eternal life.Sermon delivered on December 31, 1866.
