Show by Dean and Phil

Marc Hershon is a branding expert who has dreamed up names for countless hit products. He is a comedy veteran, a comedy impresario, and he teaches improv comedy. He has penned several television movies, and is the co-author of I Hate People, a guide to getting “what you want out of your job.” He has reviewed comedy podcasts for The Huffington Post and Splitsider and was the longtime producer and host of “Succotash” the comedy podcast podcast. Usually we say about “Television with Marc Hershon” … Come for the news, views, previews and reviews. HOWEVER, this episode features very little in the way of “news”. It more than makes up for it with fascinating views and reviews, and a whole lot of them, including:*A couple of all-time “NOPE” selections (i.e. shows that might be quite popular and even much-acclaimed that Marc and Phil won’t, for whatever reason, ever watch), including the show whose theme song plays as part of this episode’s opening!*Phil “vouches” for the freshman CBS original “Cupertino” and Marc does likewise for “Lupin” on Netflix (where its fourth season just dropped).*Was the recently-concluded season 6 of “Slow Horses” the best season yet for what might be the best series on television? Marc and Phil both think so, but they explain why no one should start with that season!*Season 2 of “The Lowdown” has commenced and it’s even better than the first. The brilliance of new cast members Tommy Lee Jones and Betty Gilpin get celebrated.*Disney plus released a Marvel miniseries called “VisionQuest” starring Paul Bettany in a variation on his now long-running “Vision” character. Is the show binge-worthy? A vouch? Comfort viewing? A guilty pleasure? Find out. One thing is certain: Phil will ALWAYS vouch for the miniseries’ co-star James Spader!*The show ends in very fun fashion, with Marc and Phil regaling each other with a list of five performers who have starred in (at least) three television series that they loved (they may have done many more series, but Marc and Phil had to greatly enjoy at least three of those shows for the performer to make the list). Such legendary performers as Betty White and John Lithgow appear on their lists, as well as recent stars like Matthew Rhys.Chillpak Hollywood Presents ... is a listener-supported joint.
