It’s easy to say “I’m not afraid.” It’s another thing to prove it. Using the picture of a group of boys daring each other to walk up to a house with scary Halloween decorations, Pastor Marty shows that it isn’t enough to say we don’t fear the world’s opposition. Jesus calls us to put that trust into practice. In Matthew 10:26-31, Jesus gives three reasons not to fear those who persecute us, and three responses that show we really believe it:God will vindicate you. One day God will reveal the truth about Christ and those who bore faithful witness. Response: be bold with the gospel. They have no authority over your eternal destiny. Persecutors may have power to harm the body, but they cannot touch the soul. Response: be controlled by God. To fear him is to let him, not the opinions of others, govern our lives. You are loved by a big God. Not one sparrow falls apart from the Father, and the very hairs of your head are numbered. Response: recognize your value. You matter to the Father who gave his Son for you.We cannot find courage, or salvation, on our own. Because of our sin, we stand guilty before God. But God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, who was mocked, persecuted, and crucified in our place. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. This is why Jesus doesn’t just say “prove it” from the sidelines. He says, “I am with you always,” and he goes with us.Sermon Text: Matthew 10:26–31Speaker: Pastor Marty BeamerDate: November 1, 2026Location: Bethel Baptist ChurchGet Connected: https://linktr.ee/bbckc
