What does it look like to trust God when life doesn't go according to plan? From immigrating to Canada and navigating loneliness, loss, and infertility to unexpected family challenges, Reymarie Yabut shares an honest story of learning that faith isn't about having all the answers or controlling every outcome, and how it isn’t about how strong we are, but how faithful God is. Discussion Questions: 1. Where did you see yourself in Reymarie’s story? Where are there similarities to your own? 2. One of the most striking things Reymarie shares is that she was taught to hide the hard parts of her life, even though she grew up in a Christian home. Why might Christian environments sometimes unintentionally teach people to conceal their struggles? What is the difference between a community that encourages people to look like they have it all together and one that creates space for people to be honest about where they really are? 3. Reymarie shares that infertility eventually became less about having another child and more about learning to trust God with her hopes, fears, and tears. Have you ever had an experience where something you desperately wanted became an opportunity to confront what you believed about God? How do we keep praying honestly when we don't know whether the answer will be what we're hoping for? 4. Reymarie describes community as having people who notice when we're struggling, love us as we are, and gently point us toward Jesus. Think about the people who have walked alongside you during difficult seasons. What did they do that made a difference? Are you becoming that kind of person for someone else? Are we creating a community here at Lakeside where people don't have to hide their hardest stories?
