The House Of The Lord

Why does God desire to dwell among His people, and how can sinful people enter the presence of a holy God? In 1 Kings 6, Solomon begins construction of the temple in Jerusalem. While the chapter may seem filled with architectural details, it reveals a much bigger story: God's desire to dwell with His people. Tracing the story from the Garden of Eden to the tabernacle and the temple, we discover that Solomon's temple was pointing forward to something—and Someone—far greater: Jesus Christ, the true and greater Temple. Through His perfect obedience, sacrificial death, and resurrection, Jesus has opened the way for sinners to enter the presence of God.
