This episode is a tune-up for the General Members Meeting of Secular AA, December 6, 2026. Every two years, after our in-person International Conference of Secular AA, we meet to hear reports from the Secular AA committees and board; vote in new members to the board to replace members rotating out; and choose the next location for ICSAA 2028.Much of our organizational structure is borrowed from the General Service Conference in as far as Bylaws and consideration for the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts. So we have a couple of AA members within the General Service Structure to share their journeys in service and outline some of the mechanisms of AA as a whole, which will help all of us in December as we hold our important meeting about the future of secular AA.We have two guests: Carolyn W, from British Columbia, who has just rotated out after eight years as a trustee of AA, working on the General Service Board, acting as an officer for AA World Services, and most recently serving on Literature, the Audit Committee, reviewing the annual conference, and more. Carolyn worked tirelessly on the 2025 AA International Convention in Vancouver, and her Area (BC + Yukon) brought forward the request to make the big book more accessible in what would become the Plain Language Big Book. Jeff B is from North New Jersey and has been involved in service just about as long as he's been sober. First, he served his group, district, and Area 44 N. New Jersey, Jeff served as the area delegate and attended the General Service Conference in 2019 and 2020 (Panel 69). Jeff continues to volunteer with Online Intergroup of AA and conduct workshops on the Traditions and Concepts. The Phoenix International Conference of Secular AA is November 13, 9 AM to November 15, 5 PM, 2026. Everyone is welcome. Join us in person or online.
