Show by Australian Conservation Foundation
This week we're talking about Scott Reef an ancient marine sanctuary off the coast of WA that oil and gas corporation Woodside Energy wants to drill and destroy. Scott Reef is home to more than 1500 species including endemic green sea turtles and endangered pygmy blue whales. Despite knowing just how harmful it will be, Woodside Energy remains steadfast in its push to drill for gas and build a 900km pipeline to the highly-controversial North West Shelf gas processing facility at Karratha. But the Environment movement is on an even bigger mission to stop Big Gas greed and send that message straight to Canberra. Hear from Adam Bandt and find out why he's talking about Lord of the Rings plus our guest this week is Australian South Sudanese artist Atong Atem who has just opened her first solo exhibition at the NGV. Atong reveals what it's like back home in South Sudan with the onslaught of the climate crisis plus her experience as a young mum with the relentless and existential threat of climate change.
