On the 17th of March, 1887, a young Swedish man made a decision that would change the course of his life. His name was Peter Karlsson. He was nineteen years old. He was leaving home, leaving his family, and setting out for America. He would record his journey in a diary. More than a hundred years later, those pages would give us a remarkable account of an ordinary young man facing an extraordinary adventure.
