Open Strings with Tomoko
By Tomoko Omura
Categories: Arts, Performing Arts, Music, Music Interviews
Jazz violin has always lived a little outside the spotlight, which is exactly why its players have so much to say. On Open Strings, jazz violinist Tomoko sits down with fellow violinists from around the world to talk about how they found their way into jazz, how they practice and compose, and what really happens in the moment they improvise. Each episode is an open, unhurried conversation between musicians: the stories behind the music, the habits behind the sound, and the questions violinists usually only ask each other backstage. Whether you play, teach, or just love the sound of the violin in jazz, pull up a chair. New conversations with violinists from every corner of the world. Video episodes on YouTube.
