Sermon: When Doing What's Right Has Consequences

From Colorado Psychedelic Church Podcast · 21:33

Show by Colorado Psychedelic Church

What happens when standing up for your beliefs puts you at risk—and how do you live with the consequences of the choices you make? Following a physical confrontation with a protester at a recent No Kings rally, Teopixqui Dez shares his account of what happened, why he intervened, and the uncertainty he faced afterward. The experience becomes the starting point for a larger conversation about consequences, regret, and what it means to put faith into action when doing so may carry personal or legal risks. Drawing on the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard, Dez explores the difference between allowing regret to paralyze us and using it to better understand our decisions. We cannot undo the past, but we can decide how to respond to it. He challenges listeners to examine the burdens they've continued carrying, recognize what those experiences have taught them, and consider whether holding on to regret still serves a purpose. In one of the sermon's most personal moments, Dez acknowledges that even those who dedicate themselves to protecting and supporting others sometimes need support themselves. Rather than holding the usual breakout discussions, he invites the congregation to share a meal, connect with one another, and remember that community means carrying each other's burdens—not just celebrating each other's victories.
