by Mary Dorn Lippert, sung by the Wrobel clanThis Is a Christmas song about the promise of a Savior to the people in the Old Testament. In its simplicity we can marvel at the story of salvation as God worked through time and his people to accomplish his purpose to bring us back to himself through Christ. This will be sung using it as a call and response song in our Christmas Eve worship service for children this year and our children at church have had a fun time with it. They love call-and-response songs and it adds to the communal effect of singing. They can actively hear another group sing with them, which is fun. This song is ideal for small children who maybe cannot memorize a full song as easily, but can sing what they hear.Consider Psalm 78 when you listen to this song:“My people, hear my teaching;listen to the words of my mouth.2 I will open my mouth with a parable;I will utter hidden things, things from of old—3 things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.4 We will not hide them from their descendants;we will tell the next generationthe praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. (Psalm 78)I hope you enjoy this song!
