Hard to Hear : Unending Forgiveness - Matthew 18:21-35

We know we're supposed to forgive, but where's the line? Should I forgive someone who hurt me? Am I supposed to forgive someone even when they continue to hurt me? Should I just forgive and forget? It seems like that's what Jesus is saying, but how can I forgive if someone continues to hurt me? How am I supposed to forgive, when someone doesn't actually seem like they are sorry? Our emotions don't always follow our forgiveness. So how are we to forgive those who we feel, don't deserve forgiveness? Jesus calls us to forgive indefinitely. There is nothing that cannot be forgiven in Jesus, so in the same way as he has forgiven us our seemingly small sins, we are to forgive others their big sins. Even ones that have hurt us, because Jesus has forgiven us our big sins against him, by dying and hurting on the cross for us. Forgiveness in Jesus never runs out, and so our forgiveness for others shouldn't run out either or have a limit. Jesus calls us to forgive the sinner indefinitely, unconditionally, unequivocally, even as he has forgiven us.
