Finding Peace Despite Our Differences
From Fr. Miguel’s Shrine Homilies · 00:07:43
Show by Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word
What makes it possible for people with very different backgrounds, personalities, and beliefs to live together in unity? In this homily for the Feast of St. Simon and St. Jude, Fr. Miguel reflects on the two apostles and the remarkable diversity among those Jesus called to follow Him. St. Simon the Zealot and St. Matthew the tax collector came from opposing backgrounds, yet they were united through their relationship with Christ. Their example reminds us that we do not have to be alike or share the same temperament and opinions to live peacefully with one another. Fr. Miguel also reflects on the Letter of St. Jude and its warning against false teachings, while highlighting his timeless exhortation: "Build yourselves up on your most holy faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God." In a world filled with uncertainty, division, and concerns about the future, we are reminded not to give in to fear but to remain faithful, prayerful, and hopeful in the Lord. Christ is the source of our unity, and our hope must remain fixed on Him regardless of the circumstances around us.
